Eguma Commends Government For Team’s Turnaround

    Coach Stanley Eguma
has asserted that Rivers United is enjoying a new lease of life under Governor Nyesom Wike and will better last season’s performance when the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season reopens.
The Port Harcourt based outfit finished second on the log and the coach disclosed that his players performed above expectations judging by the way they struggled to remain in the elite division two seasons ago.
“We had a season to remember last season,” Eguma told newsmen.
“We were not expected to be among the frontrunners by virtue of the way we struggled at the beginning of the season but we were still in contention for the league title with two matches remaining and also stayed on top of the league log for appreciable period of time.
“We are grateful to the support from the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike after he turned our season around.
“We have the best welfare package under him and my players do not need to sleep outside the government house again before being attended to.
” We are very sure we won’t disappoint in the 2017 Caf Champions League with people like Wike around to support the team’s quest.”
