The maiden edition of the Rochas Estate Football Competition ended on a high on Thursday December 22, with Uratta Housing Football Club lifting the Trophy after beating their counterparts from Ikennegbu on Penalties.
In the final of the championship held at Dan Anyiam Stadium Owerri, the General Manager of the Imo Housing Co Operation, Prince (Dr) Henry Okafor admonished players and youths of the participating estates to always live an exemplary life and shun every social vices that endangers their future encouraging them to use their God’s given talent to better their life and that of the family.
He averred that the competition which is strictly for youths in all the Housing estate in Owerri was instituted to promote peace and unity among the residence as well as to identify football talents that will later become the future stars of tomorrow.
Handing over the Trophy to the deserving winners, Uratta Housing Estate FC, Prince Okafor stated that the trophy was carefully made in the image of a 3 bedroom bungalow pointing out that the dream of his administration (imo Housing Co-operation) and the rescue Mission Government, Owella Rochas Okorocha is to create a society where every society can afford to own a low-cost house of that form.
The winners of the competition (Uratta) apart from taking home the trophy also got a lolloping sum of five hundred thousand naira (#500,000) while the runners-up and the second runners-up Ikennegbu and Grace-land Estate got three hundred thousand naira (#300,000) and one hundred and fifty thousand naria (150,000) respectively.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Organizing Committee, Mr Uche Agbarakwe told Sports Ambassador exclusively that his committee has put down some names that will form a team to represent the co-operation in State Tournaments.
